College Counselor

For over 30 years Livius has been providing premium quality test preparation and college counseling programs to students around the country. With years of experience and proprietary curriculum with a focus on strategies, we set the bar high for students.

We are seeking an experienced college counselor to join our team as we expand our offerings in the Twin Cities. A degree in counseling preferred, but any degree in the field of education is also considered. Experience and industry knowledge required. The right candidate must have experience successfully assisting students with the college admission process, and will be expected to write and update materials on a regular basis to reflect changes in the college admission industry. The candidate may also be expected to assist with marketing and events.


Responsibilities:

  • Engage and guide students and their families through the college application process.

  • Prepare students for the admissions process by teaching interviewing techniques and college essay writing techniques.

  • Guide students in utilizing Naviance and completing the Common Application.

  • Inform students and parents of financial aid or scholarship opportunities.

  • Meet individually with students and parents to explore and identify college options.

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of colleges and universities. Work collaboratively with other counselors to share that knowledge.

  • Organize and conduct presentations for college information events and workshops.

  • Assist in recruitment of new clients at recruitment events and parent nights.


Qualifications:

  • Superior communication and customer service skills.

  • Superior writing skills.

  • Degree required; Master's Degree preferred. Degree in counseling or education strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency in Naviance, college admission data system, and the Common Application a must.

  • One year or more of college counseling experience required.

  • Basic computer literacy.

  • Flexible schedule - availability during evenings and weekends to meet with students and families.

  • Reliable transportation to our Plymouth location.
