College Coach

Job Title: College Coach

Start Date: Ongoing

Since 1984 Livius Tutoring has been offering high quality tutoring, test preparation, and college counseling across New England. As processes for college applications and standardized testing have changed, we have met the needs of our students by providing all of our high quality services through online platforms.

The college application process is more confusing than ever right now. We work with students to make that process less stressful and more approachable. We help kids who are struggling with all parts of their application including the activity list, essay and interview, and help them plan, organize, and create compelling applications for colleges and scholarships. We also assist students in finding the college that is the appropriate academic and personal fit for them.

It comes down to this: We believe a student is more than his or her set of standardized test score and high school transcript. Livius helps students tell their authentic stories. Do you want to be a part of those success stories?

Responsibilities:

  • Be reading and willing to work with students one-on-one or in small group settings (currently 100% online)
  • Use our curriculum and adapt it to your personal teaching style to coach and motivate seniors in high school through one or more components of the college application. This may include an activity list, interview, essay, and more.
  • Have conversations with students to help them better understand and clarify their personal stories. Help them communicate these personal stories through different components of the college application like the activity list and essay

You will be provided written curriculum and training from our college counseling team before working with students. We do not expect counselors to adhere strictly to our curriculum, but rather use it to inform methods with which they are comfortable.

Qualifications:

  • College graduate (Bachelor’s degree), current college student, or someone with relevant and comparable experience
  • Energetic and resourceful communicator
  • Driven and self-motivated
  • Can perform well without constant supervision
  • Available on weekends

If interested in applying, please submit a resume and cover letter

Position Type: Part-time
